Joe Firtz
Maintenance Supervisor
“Who mows all this grass?” This was the question that Joe asked when he came to the property as a Deputy State Game Warden to set a bear trap.
Soon after he was mowing the grass part time and in 2012 joined us full time expanding his grass mowing responsibilities into our now maintenance supervisor and loving every minute of it. He says his faith has grown immensely during his time here - and claims that God has a plan for everyone. Setting the bear trap brought him here, the Lord kept him here.
Before coming to Ligonier Camp Joe worked in a wide variety of jobs. After high school he went to the underground coal mine for 12 years. He then became a Hunter-Trapper Education Instructor in 1991 and went to Pennsylvania Game Commission Training School to become
a Deputy State Game Warden. This is what led to the camp with the bear trap.
And as Joe says “no retirement in sight for me!”
